Kazimierz Kalkowski is a versatile artist; apart from his trademark ceramic sculptures, his artistic portfolio also includes paintings and drawings. The author himself wrote that his works “represent a reality that is deformed and caricatural, at times surreal, and yet they are figurative[...], they create their own, diverse world, bordering on children’s imagination, fairy-tale iconography, and caricature of our everyday life, even attempting to capture a musical inspiration or religious experience.”
Kazimierz Kalkowski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts [Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Sztuk Plastycznych] in Gdańsk. He graduated in 1981 with Prof. Kazimierz Ostrowski as his diploma supervisor. He had begun his artistic education in the State Secondary School of Fine Arts [Państwowe Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych] in Częstochowa, where he studied for two years.
That is also where the current exhibition was first shown; it was also created in collaboration with the school.
The exhibition will showcase the total of 58 of his works, thus presenting the audience with the perfect opportunity to fully experience the artist’s creative potential.
